Novell NetDrive: netdrive.exe
First published on July 28, 2007
Novell NetDrive is a handy WebDAV client for Windows (well, except for Windows Vista, which seems to have WebDAV programs overall). WebDAV is an extension to the HTTP protocol that allows you to drag and drop files to a server, similar to FTP but more powerful. It has some pretty cool uses, such as auto-generating image galleries and managing files in eZ Publish.
Anyway, I had a hard time finding this program and will now share it with others!
July 2008 update: also check out http://www.netdrive.net, free for personal use.

Hi, I tried the link to universityupdate.com that appears to have the vista update to novell netdrive but the link does not work. Do you know where I could find this version?

I don’t think that universityupdate.com site actually has any content (I’m going to delete that comment). I also don’t know of a NetDrive Vista version. Check out the third post on this forum for details on WebDAV and Vista:

I was looking for an alternative to WebDrive so this was a great find. So far it seems to work pretty well. Thanks.

Anyone got a full listing for Netdrive.exe command line switches? I’ve got enough to go on but really want to get a full list so I can exploit this marvellous piece of freeware.

I haven’t looked through it yet, but this appears to be documentation that is still available. Note the PDF link near the top, for a transportable version.

NetDrive is a nice program, but it was only licensed by Novell and will no longer be included or updated. For those who want or need a newer version, here is the link to the company who still does durther development on this program (they call it WebDrive). It costs money though…

NetDrive 1.0.6 newly released at http://www.netdrive.net.
It is free for use for personal use, and seems to be even better
than previous ones !

NetDrive 1.0.6 works but is not the same as the old novell netdrive. I’m trying to setup webdav autocommit using subversion – the old netdrive on xp works perfectly but can’t work on vista. The netdrive 1.0.6 from netdrive.net works on vista, but updates files by deleting and re-creating, causing subversion’s file history to be lost for any single file (you need to look at each revision for a deleted copy).
