1-866-625-0004 is Canada Revenue Agency Collections

If you’re wondering who’s calling you from 1-866-625-0004, it’s Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Collections. For some reason their number does not seem to be listed anywhere, and when they leave you a message, they don’t tell you who they are or why they are calling, just that you need to call them back.

If you ever receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Government of Canada and you’re unsure whether they are who they say they are, you can call 1-800-O-Canada (1-800-622-6232) to confirm.

Also, if the CRA is telling you that your business did not pay its income tax and you are sure that you paid your taxes, it is likely that they applied your payment to the following year instead of the current year. For example, if they claim that you are behind on your 2011 account, ask them to check the 2012 account and potentially move a payment applied to 2012 to 2011.

   This is NOT CANADA REVENUE AGENCY. Do not call any number they suggest.
   If concerned note details of the call and contact CRA yourself through the official numbers listed in your phone book or on CRAs webpage.
   We get calls all the time from this number but no one says anything and they hang up. Why? Because of the type of business I work for. We know you are not CRA.

   If unsure about calls like this, always look up the official number and talk to a representative that YOU contacted independently.

   You are of course CORRECT. It is the GOC-GDC identifier
   ID on the incoming call which is the Government of Canada.
   Of course, you knew that. This is for the benefit of silly "su".

   NO THIS IS NOT CRA. 1-866-625-0004 is associated with 1-800-931-1026, which Revenue Canada has confirmed is NOT a legitimate CRA number. BEWARE! Reply
