Program lacks key feature | Peter's Sports League Standings | Forum

Hi
I think the lack of a player roster is a major draw back for this program, and the programing modification quotes of "minimum 500 dollars" I received from Pete just makes
it unrealistic.
The standings program in general is fine right out of the box for baseball
football, and really ideal for Hockey, that is if a individual roster of your
team players is not needed, or you have the 500 plus funds available to have the additional required, or maybe your just lucky and understand PHP and can attempt that yourself.
I coach a little league team, and youth basketball team, during the year
and haved used the standings program for both of them, but remember we do not want team roster's made avail;able online anyway, so in those cases this worked perfectly fine for us.
But I cannot believe anyone offering this or writing a program for this purpose, would leave out such an important feature as that,
I think you should seriously consider writing that feature into your program and offer a version for purchase or something, that way the cost can be spread out and made somewhat affordable to us.
I bet if you took a poll, almost everyone would like, if not "need" some kind of team roster display
I have since found a open source php program BY LUCK, that does everything that I need and more, so I'm not coming from a personal perspective anymore,
but I also had to install a lot of things I do not need to get it as well, but I admit, I am starting to like some of the other extensions as well the more I learn.
The program is called, Joomla with the league extension
Thanks
Sonny

Thanks for the feedback and good luck with your implementation. It’s good to know there is an alternative with a roster / player module. I hope to learn from the alternatives to better model future releases of the script. I still maintain that a player module specific to someone's needs will take custom development. However, if it can be made flexible enough to suit many sports, I agree that it would be a key feature.

Pete you lost me a bit, any type of team will always have players,
and players make a roster? whether its 3 players or 10, makeing a roster, just a roster no matter what the team is involved in..
Maybe what you meant to say, is the way in which to track and display their individual stats? but even that could simply be generic, by having a simple entry like the player name team and a manual text box on what they have done, like won or lost, or maybe drove in 2 runs etc if baseball for example. your looking way to deep into this, at a bare minimum just a teams roster alone would be better then what's available now.,
again think about a purchase version of your standings program, and spread out the cost, you'd be surprised (I bet) on how many you would sell. there is always some kind of special programming needed at times, but a team roster should never be one of them that's just a common sense thing to just build in and something people would automatically expect.
Thanks
Sonny
PS Its not good luck or good by to me, I plan on using this for youth baseball and basketball, I love it! plus I do not do the scheduling for them anyway, Its just my pool league I need to switch for right now, like I said make that paid version one day and I will be first in line to buy it.
I will never mention another word on this again, enough said
