Magic Jack only accepts open credit or debit cards for payment | magicJack | Forum

Magic Jack would not accept pre-paid VISA gift card number for payment for registration. I do not use my credit or debit cards for purchases online for security reasons. That is what pre-paid VISA cards are for.
Magic Jack will accept a type of Paypal payment, but I understand that Paypal also requires that you link a credit or debit card to your Paypal account - you can't just deposit money with them & use only that amount.
As far as I'm concerned, anybody online that insists on having access to my regular credit or debit card is a potential scammer and I can't afford to be robbed. I'm taking MagicJack back to the store where I bought it.

I completely agree with this issue. The merchant should not be allowed to dictate to the client where
he/she sources the money from. It's irrelevant where the money came from (CC, bank account or received
payments). The fact that the funds are available in the account in what is important. GoDaddy has a
similar policy. I wanted to purchase a domain, but since they required that I source the money from my
credit card when using Paypal, I decided not to use them. If found another registrar in Canada that
charged the same amount of money and accept Paypal, regardless of where the funds originated from. If a
merchant doesn't accept Paypal "as-is", then I won't deal with them.
